Flower headbands

Hi everybody!

I decided to make some cute headbands for our little princess. For the band I used some stretchy lace ribbon and also some jersey fabric. I crocheted some of the decorative flowers and stitched together some fabric for the others.

I used THIS pattern to make these small pink flowers. After crocheting them I stitched them on the lace ribbon and voilà the headband is ready :))

For this crochet flower I used the instructions from HERE. I should have dip the flower to water and pin it to let it dry, then it would have stretched a bit and would look more clean and structured like the one in the instructions. I don't mind it looking a bit floppy though ;P I attached a button in the middle of the flower and stitched the whole thing to the charcoal jersey.

For these flowers I just ruffled some lace fabric, attached some white buttons and stitched them to the lace ribbon. I think this is my favorite of the four headbands I made :))

And last but not least for this flower I used some linen fabric (the leftovers from the bridesmaid dresses that I made for our wedding), ruffled it a bit, attached a button (again ;P) and stitched it to the lace ribbon. Note that she is currently eating one of the headbands ;P

I just had to include this picture in the post because she looks so adooorably chubby on this picture ;D

I hope you're having a beautiful day!

Owl Hat(s)

I wanted to make a cute beanie for our little princess and decided to continue with the owl theme :))
I've actually already made two of these (and the third one is almost done), because she grows so fast that the first one doesn't fit anymore and the second one probably won't fit soon either ;P
I bought the pattern for this hat here but if i would have found this tutorial first i would have definitely used that one :))

I think she looks absolutely adorable with the owl hat :))

aah..and when I showed the finished product to my husband, he demanded that i would make one for him also. So i did :)) And together they look even more adorable ;D

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Owl Toy

We have kind of an owl-theme going on with our little daughter. For some reason i've been obsessed with owls, i just find them so cute :))
So I made this owl toy out of some pieces of fabric i had lying around. I decided to fill the toy with rice because now we can put it in the microwave and heat it up. That way when she goes to bed she has something warm cuddling her :))

I think i might take some of the rice out to make the toy a bit lighter, right now it's quite heavy and bulky but still so adorable ;D

Have a beautiful autumn day!

Baby Blanket

One of the thing i definitely wanted to make for our little princess was a baby blanket. So I started to look for different inspirational pictures and oh, there were so many sooo cute options but i finally found the picture below on Pinterest and used that for inspiration.

I started to make the blanket when i was pregnant and we didn't yet know if we were expecting a girl or a boy so i made the squares in different colours and when we found out that we're having a girl i used more pink ;D

And this is the blanket after attaching all the squares together and i also made a crochet trim around the blanket for a nice finishing touch.

And here's the blanket in use a few months ago. And isn't that the coolest baby carriage ever, it's the one that my parents got when i was a baby :))

Lots of love!

My not so new obsession

I know that Pinterest has been there for quite a long time already and many people have discovered it already but because i'm literally OBSESSED with it i just have to make a post about it.
So Pinterest is a website where you can pin pictures from different websites or blogs or just from other Pinterest users. And the best part is that when you click on the picture you've pinned it opens the page where the picture originates. So you can always find the patterns, tutorials, recipes etc you have pinned.
I used to save pictures on my computer for inspiration and bookmark different websites with tutorials etc, but now i just pin everything to my Pinterest boards.
The bad side about it is that i can spend hours looking through pictures that other people have pinned ;P
If you want to go and check it out just click here.
And if you want to go check out my boards and things i've pinned then click here :))

Just to make it clear i'm in no way sponsored by Pinterest. I just really enjoy using it and find it quite useful for storing inspirational pictures, tutorials etc.
If Pinterest is something new for you, i recommend you to check it out :))
I wish you a beautiful day!!

Crochet Baby Slippers

I had a baby about 3 months ago and when I was expecting i made a few baby things for her. One of the first things i made were some baby slippers.

I saw this picture of some crochet baby slippers on Pinterest and it directed me to THIS blog-post where I found THIS tutorial on YouTube.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg69qs5mXbcC-DkTf_eIMlb6Sds-_3icox7JcAt-qnQIlPHclQ6s9QLy0B0JHn1nmdzPUggwXTqLP4NlZK3_g-SM0N1fjHDEui3oWU9j3Oay8E7iIKsrGLKFVgnRvzS4Sw6A9lq4OU8ymOV/s1600/babyschoentjes2.jpg

I followed the tutorial up to the part where she makes the strap and I'm quite happy with the result :))

I have to make some more of these slippers because these are already small for our little princess. Her feet (and everything else ;D) grow so fast :))

I wish you have a sunny autumn day!

TWA - The Dresses

This is the last wedding-related post I will write but I already have some next posts waiting and I hope I'm able to keep up with posting at least once a week :))
But on with the post...so I made the crazy decision to make the bridesmaid dresses myself and on top of that i made an even more outrageous decision to sew my bridal dress myself also. The bridesmaid dresses weren't too difficult to sew because the cut i was going for was simple enough and also i used linen for the dresses which is a simple fabric to work with. The bridal dress on the other hand was a completely different story. I used very lightweight silk to make the dress and i can tell that it wasn't a forgiving material to work with so it was kind of stressful. And to tell you the truth if i had the chance to do it all over again i would definitely skip making my own dress although i liked the way it looked in the end, especially the beading on the dress (but that i could have just done to a ready-made dress also). It would have been just much less stressful to just buy a dress and make some alterations to that if wanted. But what's done is done and fortunately everything turned out great anyways and that is really the only thing i would have done differently if i would have known better ;P
But now... on with the pictures...

I found this picture of a linen dress on the internet and thought it looked cute and that something similar would be nice for my bridesmaids also.

So this is the version I made for my bridesmaids. All three of them had the chance to decide how short or long they wanted the dress to be. And my sister (on the picture below) wanted it to be quite short ;D

I wanted my dress to have a glimpse of red in it and for some reason i immediately imagined the dress with red beads made out of seashells so they have a really beautiful sheen to them. And that's exactly what i used to make the beaded part of the dress.

And here's a glimpse of the back of the dress.

Hope you have an awesome day!!

TWA - Buttons,buttons, buttons...and a little fabric

So for some reason i had an obsession with buttons last year when i was planning our wedding. I had seen some pictures of flower bouquets made of buttons and fabric and got inspired by that. So i decided to make my bridal bouquet, the grooms boutonnieres and hair accessories for me and the flower-girls out of some cute buttons and pieces of fabric. And here are the results...

Hair accessories for me and the flower-girls.

The boutonniere for the groom and groomsmen.

The bridal bouquet.

I enjoyed making all of these accessories and I think it's nice that my bridal bouquet is never going to wither and will decorate our home for the years to come :))

Have an absolutely fantastic day!

TWA - Flowergirls

I made our flowergirls tutu-skirts and decided that they could pair the skirts with some simple white t-shirts, so they could feel as comfortable as possible :))
They looked absolutely adorable!!

And as you can see, they were feeling quite comfortable ;D

They even found some matching umbrellas

And the rain didn't stop them from running, playing and enjoying themselves :))

I also made them some hair clips. I will write about those in one of the upcoming posts.
I wish you have the loveliest day!

TWA - The Perfect Match

So it's time for the next wedding related post.
This time the spotlight is turned to some matchboxes that our wedding guests were able to take with them as a memory of our beautiful day.
I saw this idea at least a couple of times on different wedding-themed blogs ( sorry, i don't remember where exactly).
I really loved the clever wordplay and thought it would be nice to recreate for our wedding. And so we did!
My hubby designed the texts and pretty much did everything else relating to the matchboxes (with help from his bestman). I helped also. We made the insides of the matchboxes from red carton and glued the printed texts on the "cover" of the matchboxes.

Here's a couple of pictures of the work in progress matchboxes.

And the finished product :))

We made so many of these that we still have some extra to use at home ;))

I wish you have a beautiful day!

TWA - The Center Pieces

So it has been an eternity since my last post. I've tried many times to start blogging again but it was hard to find the energy and when I finally did (and i had already written the post etc) my computer crashed and of course the post wasn't saved yet...oh the frustration.
This is my second attempt to write this post and hopefully this time I will get to the publishing part :))

Anyways, as the title says, this post is about the center pieces in our wedding.
I wanted the center pieces to be something that would give some light in the evening when it gets dark since I knew that we wouldn't have any other light sources available (except candles). So the first step was to order some xmas lights from ebay. I ordered the kinds that work on batteries and i got them in two colours -  red and white (those were the colours for our wedding). I also bought some red and white fabrics.
Then all I had to do was lure some friends over with sparkling wine and put them to work ;D
All together we had five or six of these crafting evenings where we sew fabric flowers around the lights and here are the results...

We cut some branches and twirled the lights around them.

Then we took some jars, filled them with sand and jabbed the branches into the sand.

A simple idea, time consuming to make but the results...SOOO WORTH IT :))
You can't tell on the pictures but the lights actually really illuminated the tables so people were able to see who they were talking to ;D
I have to thank everybody who helped in making of the center pieces, it wouldn't have been possible to get them done alone.

Hope you have a lovely day!
