Granny Square Dress for a Girl

Ok, so I made this pile of granny squares I showed in my previous post...

And then I started to put them together.I didn't have any specific plan or pattern I just started to crochet the squares together with a slip stitch. I crocheted the shoulder straps and added some buttons for the fasteners.

I also left the back a little bit open and added three buttons there, just to make it easier to put the dress on (it would fit on without the opening also, but it's less fussy like this ;D)

It came out bulkier than I originally planned, I should have used a finer yarn and a smaller hook but then I probably wouldn't have ever finished it (I'm not good with time consuming projects :P).
Maybe I'll be up for the challenge in the future, we'll see :))

I hope everybody is having a wonderful weekend!

Granny Square Madness

I've been making these granny squares for a couple of weeks now (not non-stop of course but almost every day at least a couple) and I finally have the amount that I need for making a summer dress for my daughter. Or at least I hope I have enough :)

Anyways I will start crocheting the squares together and I hope I will achieve the look I'm going for as I'm not using any instructions or a tried out pattern, I'm pretty much just flinging it.

I already know though that it will be a bit bulkier than I intended but anything looks cute on a baby, so it's gonna be ok ;))
I'll keep you updated on the progress.

Crochet Tezzie Hat

So I know it's quite warm here in Estonia now and this post isn't very relevant anymore but last week it still was kind of cold and that's when I made these two adorable hats. I made one for my little sister and another for my daughter.I found the tutorial for this hat randomly on YouTube and you can also find the written pattern HERE. At first it was kind of difficult to understand the written instructions but the video tutorial really helped and it's actually quite easy to make, at least if you're familiar with crocheting :))
On the right you can see what the bigger one looks like. The yarn was kind of furry and I think that's why the pattern doesn't show off that well, but I it's still cute.

I love the quirky smile she has on this picture ;D

And here is the other one I made for my daughter. I actually ran out of the pink yarn so I made the rim with a light brown colour. I really like pink and brown together so I think it looks good like this.

If you want you can add a ribbon, to make it even more girly and cute. Please don't mind the funky looking bow, she doesn't really like hats so it was kind of a struggle to get a good decent picture and I couldn't be bothered to fix the bow ;P

Here's more of the funky bow ;D and a happy baby :))

I hope you enjoyed!

Crochet Mittens (instructions included)

Ok, so I know I promised you some summery posts but the weather here in Estonia is very reluctant to let go of winter. So when I saw a picture of some crochet mittens then I instantly thought "Why haven't I thought of this?!" and immediately (I literally stood up right away) went to get some yarn from my yarn basket and tried it out. It was super easy, in my opinion easier than knitting a pair of mittens and I've knitted a few pairs in my life ;)
I decided to write down the instructions so anybody who would like to crochet mittens but can't be bothered to invent the pattern themselves can get the instructions here :))
I used quite a thick yarn (I didn't have the packaging and info anymore because they were leftovers from previous projects) and a 5.00 mm (European size) hook.

So here we go!

EDIT: Count -chain 3- in the beginning of a row as a dc (so the dc at the end of the row would add up).

Make a magic circle (see video instruction here)
Row 1: Make 10 single crochets(sc) into the magic circle, slip stitch (sl st) in first sc.
Row 2 : Chain 3, *double crochet (dc) in next sc, 2 dc in next sc* ; repeat from * to *,join with sl st (14 dc)
Row 3 : Chain 3, *dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc*; repeat from * to *join with sl st (20 dc)
Rows 4-5 : Chain 3, dc in every dc, join with sl st(20 dc)
Row 6 : Chain 3, *dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc*, repeat from * to *, join with sl st (29 dc)
Rows 7-11. Chain 3, dc in every dc, join with sl st (29 dc)
Row 12:
*Right hand:Chain 3, dc in next 10 dc, chain (ch) 3, skip 3 dc, dc in next 15 dc, join with sl st
*Left hand: Chain 3, dc in next 15 dc, ch 3, skip 3 dc, dc in next 10 dc, join with sl st

Row 13: Chain 3, dc in next 15 dc, dc in each ch (3 dc), dc in next 11 dc, join with sl st (29 dc)

Rows 14-16: Chain 3, dc in every dc, join with sl st (29 dc)
Row  17: Chain 3, dc in next 4 dc, dc next two stitches together, dc in next 8 dc, dc next two stitches together, dc in next 8 dc, dc next two stitches together, dc in next 2 dc, join with sl st (26 dc)
Rows 18-20: Chain 3, dc in every dc; on last round fasten off.

Thumb:
Attach yarn with a slip stitch to one of the dc in the space for the thumb, chain 3, dc around the edge, join with sl st(12 dc)

Rows 2-3: Chain 3, dc in every dc, join with sl st
Row 4: chain 3, dc in next 2 dc, dc next two stitches together, dc in next 3 dc, dc next two stitches together, dc in remaining two dc, join with sl st (10 dc)
Row 5: Chain 3, now make a cluster stitch (see video instruction here) with all of the remaining stitches and on the last stitch pull the yarn through all of the loops on your needle.
Side note: I actually put about half of the loops on a safety pin because otherwise it's very difficult to crochet on the last stitches (you'll see what I mean if you try it ;P).

Now just fasten off and hide all the loose ends and you're ready!

I hope these instructions were relatively easy to understand but if have any questions feel free to ask me and I'll do my best to answer you!

Here is my wonderful hubby modelling for me :))

EDIT: Thank you to a couple of readers for pointing out some errors / confusing parts in the pattern. I've made corrections and hope that it is now easier to understand the instructions :))

Flower headbands

Hi everybody!

I decided to make some cute headbands for our little princess. For the band I used some stretchy lace ribbon and also some jersey fabric. I crocheted some of the decorative flowers and stitched together some fabric for the others.

I used THIS pattern to make these small pink flowers. After crocheting them I stitched them on the lace ribbon and voilà the headband is ready :))

For this crochet flower I used the instructions from HERE. I should have dip the flower to water and pin it to let it dry, then it would have stretched a bit and would look more clean and structured like the one in the instructions. I don't mind it looking a bit floppy though ;P I attached a button in the middle of the flower and stitched the whole thing to the charcoal jersey.

For these flowers I just ruffled some lace fabric, attached some white buttons and stitched them to the lace ribbon. I think this is my favorite of the four headbands I made :))

And last but not least for this flower I used some linen fabric (the leftovers from the bridesmaid dresses that I made for our wedding), ruffled it a bit, attached a button (again ;P) and stitched it to the lace ribbon. Note that she is currently eating one of the headbands ;P

I just had to include this picture in the post because she looks so adooorably chubby on this picture ;D

I hope you're having a beautiful day!

Owl Hat(s)

I wanted to make a cute beanie for our little princess and decided to continue with the owl theme :))
I've actually already made two of these (and the third one is almost done), because she grows so fast that the first one doesn't fit anymore and the second one probably won't fit soon either ;P
I bought the pattern for this hat here but if i would have found this tutorial first i would have definitely used that one :))

I think she looks absolutely adorable with the owl hat :))

aah..and when I showed the finished product to my husband, he demanded that i would make one for him also. So i did :)) And together they look even more adorable ;D

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Baby Blanket

One of the thing i definitely wanted to make for our little princess was a baby blanket. So I started to look for different inspirational pictures and oh, there were so many sooo cute options but i finally found the picture below on Pinterest and used that for inspiration.

I started to make the blanket when i was pregnant and we didn't yet know if we were expecting a girl or a boy so i made the squares in different colours and when we found out that we're having a girl i used more pink ;D

And this is the blanket after attaching all the squares together and i also made a crochet trim around the blanket for a nice finishing touch.

And here's the blanket in use a few months ago. And isn't that the coolest baby carriage ever, it's the one that my parents got when i was a baby :))

Lots of love!

Crochet Baby Slippers

I had a baby about 3 months ago and when I was expecting i made a few baby things for her. One of the first things i made were some baby slippers.

I saw this picture of some crochet baby slippers on Pinterest and it directed me to THIS blog-post where I found THIS tutorial on YouTube.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg69qs5mXbcC-DkTf_eIMlb6Sds-_3icox7JcAt-qnQIlPHclQ6s9QLy0B0JHn1nmdzPUggwXTqLP4NlZK3_g-SM0N1fjHDEui3oWU9j3Oay8E7iIKsrGLKFVgnRvzS4Sw6A9lq4OU8ymOV/s1600/babyschoentjes2.jpg

I followed the tutorial up to the part where she makes the strap and I'm quite happy with the result :))

I have to make some more of these slippers because these are already small for our little princess. Her feet (and everything else ;D) grow so fast :))

I wish you have a sunny autumn day!
